1/13/2024 0 Comments Vdl2 decoder windowsI have installed Linux on my Chromebook (an Ubuntu derivative) so might use it for initial experiments. I'll park an SDR around 136 MHz and see if anything shows up. I think I spotted a wider band VDL/2 transmission on a slightly higher frequency (131.85 perhaps?). ![]() I can receive both sides of the transmissions from my location near Edmonton. I notice there are AFN & AT1 messages mixed in with the regular ACARS transmissions. Anyway, in my new location here I am receiving VHF ACARS on 131.550 and 131.725. This then provides intermittent connectivity to a switch in the shack!). ![]() Have a couple of Pi3Bs, but no HDMI screens! Network connectivity in the shack is somewhat limited at present (picture a DD-WRT flashed router balanced on 3 buckets on the roof acting as a wireless bridge to the wifi in the house. I've just got Windows computers in the shack right now. I've done a few experiments with JAERO over the last few months of lockdown, and have had a lot of fun! Now I have relocated back to Canada, I have decided to monitor CPDLC & ACARS from VHF.
